How To Prepare For Your Fresh 48 Session
Capturing those precious first moments with your newborn can be one of the most fulfilling experiences for new parents. A Fresh 48 photography session provides an intimate look at your baby's earliest days, allowing you to cherish memories that will last a lifetime. Here’s how to prepare for your session so that everything goes smoothly.

1. Schedule Your Session Ahead of Time
Contact Madeline Mo Photography as early as possible during your pregnancy to secure a time slot. I recommend booking between 28 to 34 weeks gestation to ensure availability. During the inquiry, we will schedule the session around your due date and remain in contact as labor can be unpredictable. Once you give birth to your beautiful new baby, you will reach out to me to finalize if you want a hospital session or an at home session.
2. Packing Your Hospital Bag
Make sure your hospital bag includes not only essentials for you and your baby but items that can enhance your photography session. Here are some things to consider:
Outfits for Baby: Bring a couple of options, such as knitted hats, cozy blankets, or cute outfits. Simple and soft colors often photograph beautifully.
Outfits for Parents: Choose comfortable clothing that reflects your style while still feeling relaxed. Soft colors or textures can add a nice touch to the photos. If you are not feeling up to changing, there is no pressure and allows for the session to capture the moment as it was rather than being staged/posed.
Personal Items: Consider packing sentimental items, like a special blanket or toy, that you can use in the shoot to create personalized memories.
3. Plan for Comfort
The goal of your Fresh 48 session is to capture your family naturally and joyfully. Make sure to prioritize comfort during this time:
Hydration: Keep water and snacks nearby to stay refreshed.
Session Time: We will want to schedule the session between 9am and 3pm as hospital lighting can be horrible (If it is an at home session we have a little more flexibility). I will utilize any natural light available in the room to ensure that you and baby don’t have inconsistent coloring in your photos.
Feed the baby right before the session as this will help ensure baby has a full bell and hopefully be happy throughout the session; If you would like feeding or nursing photos, we will take those at the beginning of the session.
4. Embrace the Experience
Finally, remind yourself that Fresh 48 sessions are all about capturing genuine moments. The focus is on love, connection, and your new family life. Allow the process to unfold naturally; don’t stress about perfection. I am there to guide you, ensuring the session is joyful and effortless. Cherish these fleeting moments!
